Botanical Name: 
Cistus x purpureus

Native to the Mediterranean region. A hardy, compact, evergreen shrub with a fast growth rate. Leaves are dark green above, gray underneath, simple, opposite, lanceolate, 1 1/2" to 2" long, 1/4" to 1/2" wide. Blooms are rose-purple with maroon spots. Tolerates drought, heat and poor soil. Works well in rock gardens or as an informal hedge. Good for erosion control.
