Botanical Name: 
Populus fremontii

Native to California and central Rockies south to Mexico. Glossy yellow-green leaves are virtually triangular with coarsley toothed margins 2" to 4" in width. Turning a striking bright yellow in autumn. Bark is rough and fissured, light gray to whitish. Best suited to rural areas because of aggressive surface roots and overall size of tree.

Very large, exceptional shade tree with a fast growth rate.  All cottonwoods can drop branches in windy desert conditions.  Be aware to plant away from buildings and walkways.
