Oak Red 'Shumard' DescriptionBotanical Name: Quercus shumardii A native to the eastern U.S. Leaves are dark green in summer turning scarlet red in autumn. They are alternate, simple 4 1/2" to 8 1/2" long, 4" to 6" wide, oblong, sometimes rounded, 7 to 11 lobed. Bark matures to a brown nearly black color. In old age often round-topped and symmetrical.
