Botanical Name: 
Callistemon citrinus

Native to Australia. Very showy shrub or small tree with masses of red bottlebrush shaped blooms. Leaves are simple, lanceolate, coppery when new, turning to a rich green, 3" long, 1/2" wide, with a lemon scent. Flowers are dense spikes of long, bristlelike stamens, which hummingbirds love. Very tolerant of heat, cold, and poor soil. Moderate growth rate.
