Olive European DescriptionBotanical Name: Olea europaea A native to the Mediterranean, Asia and parts of Africa. Leaves are opposite, simple, oblong to lanceolate, 1/2" to 4" long, 1/2" to 1 1/2" wide. They are medium green above, gray-green beneath. Trunk is gray and furrowed becoming gnarled with age. Fruit is a small oval, 1/2" to 1" long, green, ripening to a rich purple. The fruit is considered a drupe, or stone fruit. The fruiting varieties that we carry include 'Arbequina' and 'Frantonio'. We also carry the variety 'Wilson', which is fruitless.
